Description
Join fellow accordion players, enthusiast and dancers for an afternoon of music and fun. Players of ALL levels are encouraged to bring their accordion and play 1-3 pieces. The intent of the social is to have a supportive and friendly atmosphere, where players can play and everyone can enjoy some great music. Our Featured Player for the second half of the afternoon will be: Rod Miller from Grand Forks, British Columbia. Rod has been playing music pretty much all his life. He started at an early age taking lessons in Richmond BC, began teaching at age 14, and was playing for a dance band by his 16th birthday. He currently plays with several bands in Kelowna and the Okanagan. His own band “Europa” plays all types of music for dancing; polkas, waltzes, Latin, swing, pop and rock. He currently plays with a swing band called “Cowboy Bob” doing jazz standards, cowboy tunes and all sorts of fun stuff. He often plays with an awesome group “The Cruzeros” who have recorded multiple country rock albums and won several Canadian Country Music Awards. Rod has competed at several festivals, including Leavenworth and Kimberley, and has built some great musical and accordion friendships there. Rod can be seen every year as the Parademeister – leading the accordion parade at the Leavenworth International Accordion Celebration.
