SUMMARY:Sequim Fling Pickleball Tournament
DESCRIPTION:The Sequim Picklers (SP) announce "Sequim Fling"\, a 3-day pickleball tournament starting Friday\, May 31 and continuing through Sunday\, June 2. Organizers expect more than 300 attendees. Registration is online at pickleballtournaments.com and is open through May 24. "Sequim Fling" follows the success of SP's Fall 2018 Blue Hole Bash which attracted more than 250 from up to 500 miles away. Estimates were that 40% of attendees stayed in local overnight accommodations and 60% frequented local restaurants. Sequim's USAPA-sanctioned pickleball courts at Carrie Blake Park have become a destination venue for players across the Pacific Northwest. Funded by a partnership between SP and the City of Sequim\, the picklers raised $61\,000 in grants and members themselves donated $156\,700\; writing a check to the City in the amount of $217\,700 for construction of the public courts\, completed last summer. The courts not only provide a recreational venue\, they contribute to Sequim's economic vitality. The Sport and Fitness Industry Association (SFIA) estimates that more than 2.5 million pickleball players utilize more than 5\,000 court sites across the country--Sequim's being one of the newest. Recognized as the fastest growing sport in America\, area entities have an opportunity to sponsor SP pickleball tournaments with targeted promotion and advertising. Sponsorship levels range from $100-$800. Prospective sponsors can call Katinka Nanna at (775) 304-1452 for more details. Bring your lawn chair and watch Sequim's pickleball tournament May 31-June 2 at Carrie Blake Park. For more information go to sequimpicklers.net.
