Director Maite Alberdi provides an intimate glimpse into the lives of adults in Chile living with Down Syndrome. With both humor and heartbreak, the film illuminates legal, financial, and societal restrictions that diminish the freedoms of Chile’s developmentally disabled population. Alberdi places the viewer in a center for individuals with Down Syndrome, where four middle-aged friends yearn for a life of greater autonomy in a society that marginalizes them as disabled. This event is a collaboration with POV, PBS’ award-winning nonfiction film series. (http://www.pbs.org/pov/).
