Description
Death has always been a defining force in human culture—both feared and revered, hidden and honored. Across history, societies have developed intricate rituals to mark the transition from life to death, preserving memories and guiding spirits beyond the veil. From Victorian mourning traditions to our modern practices, each era has shaped its own language of loss, remembrance, and reverence.
The “Eternal Echoes” exhibition at Port Angeles Fine Arts Center brings together the past and present by examining historic death rituals alongside emerging contemporary practices. This show highlights artists and death workers who engage with mortality in thought-provoking ways—challenging taboos while honoring traditions and the deceased. “Eternal Echoes” invites viewers to reconsider how we engage with death, how we honor those who came before us, and how art can offer a bridge between the living and the departed.
Featured Artists, Authors, and Partners include: Gina Lavocelli, Caitlin McCormick, Landis Blair, Rebecca Reeves, Death Under Glass, Anouk Kaiser, Rebecca Chaperon, Megan Rosenbloom, Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County, Carmen Watson-Charles.
