A drippy spring day didn’t keep these gardeners from touring the Fifth Street Community Garden, bringing their garden questions and gathering tips of testing their soil to see when it is appropriate to start digging and planting. Here Master Gardener Laurie Force (center) demonstrates a simple soil test to the attentive participants. (Photo by Audreen Williams). Our next Fifth Street Community Garden Clinic is May 9th from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Fifth Street Community Garden, 328 E 5th St., Port Angeles. We will share “Tips for Success with Tomatoes and Other Veggie Transplants” and look forward to sunnier and brighter weather. If you have any plant or pest issues, feel free to bring any photos or samples of problem plants or pests in a plastic bag for a quick analysis.
