Fun Walk and Health Fair

Mark your calendars for the 14th Annual Clinic Fun Walk and Health Fair, Saturday September 8, 2018! The walk will be a 5k (3.1 mile) walk like last year starting at Trinity United Methodist Church going through Carrie Blake Park and part of the Discovery Trail. Don’t worry; if you are used to doing the 1 mile course you still can. Registration will begin at 8:00, but NEW THIS YEAR the walk is FREE! Yes, it’s still the clinic’s ONLY fundraiser so we ask that you donate if you can, but we want to make sure that the entire community is able to join us for this day of fun, prizes, and healthy education! Warm-up stretches will begin at 8:45am and the Walk will start at 9:00am. The Walk is non-competitive, for teams, families and individuals. There is some competitive fun however, The Team Competitions. The first is for the team with the most walkers. Team members must check in with their teams that morning to be counted. The second is for the team who raises the most money. Later in this newsletter there is an article with instructions for using social media to help raise money for your team, please check it out! Last year Team Akaloo from Dungeness Valley Lutheran Church took home both awards with 38 walkers and raising $3,610. Thank you again Team Akaloo!! After the Fun Walk, don’t forget to head back into the church to visit our Health Fair. We will have screenings for blood pressure, blood sugar and oxygen saturation. Olympic Medical Center will have a variety of health & wellness information and services. There will be Yoga and Massage just to mention a few other things. And don’t forget the Door Prizes! Your furry friends are welcome on the walk, just remember they must be on a leash and please make sure to pick up after them. We will have pet sitters on hand to play with them while you enjoy the activities inside the church. Help us to make this the best walk yet.
