Description
Attached is information about our exciting bi-monthly free speaker series focusing on the importance of planting native plants in your garden. The presentations occur in May, July, and September at the Salmon Shelter at H.J. Carroll Park in Chimacum. The second “Growing In The Garden Speaker Series” presentation will be: Sunday, July 19, at 100 pm in H.J. Carroll Park, at the Kul Kah Han Native Plant Demonstration Garden 9884 Rhody Drive, Chimacum, WA Title: CATERPILLARS AND THE NATIVE PLANTS THAT FEED THEM- A discussion about ongoing work to analyze limited research literature to predict which natives would likely provide forage for caterpillars. Our guest speaker, Jo “Cirque” Stormer (they/them), is the nerd behind Nobody Nursery, a small grower in Des Moines, WA building biodiversity by specializing in WA-native plants that are otherwise commercially-unavailable. They recently gave a brief presentation (hosted by the Kitsap Environmental Coalition) on the first iteration of this data project, and this longer talk at Kul Kah Han is an opportunity to dig deeper into the exciting second iteration of the data project.
