Description
This is a scholarship event to select the royalty that will be the best representatives for Sequim in the Community and accompany the float as it travels around the state. Royalty selection is one of the first activities to take place as the Irrigation Festival begins to gear up for the 120th year of the festival. Juniors and seniors within the Sequim School District are eligible to participate in the pageant and be selected to the 2015 Royal Court. The contestants are currently busy preparing for the pageant. The Royalty Court is one of the most visible parts of the Irrigation Festival. They make appearances around town to represent the Irrigation Festival, travel with the float around Western Washington to other community parades, and also perform community service in the area. In return the members of the Royal Court each receive a scholarship (one $1000 and three $750 scholarships), travel and float wardrobes, parade travel expenses, speech and poise training, and an opportunity to make life-long friends around the state and within the community.
