Description
Free and open to the public. Time will be allotted for questions from the audience. Artists Don and Era Farnsworth will discuss the collaboration and techniques behind their exhibition I Forget I’m Human, featuring mixed-media works bridging a variety of innovative digital and analog print processes. From tapestries and reimagined paper currency to mixed-media works that defy categorization, the Farnsworths will reveal the methods used to generate their signature hybrid of the ancient and the modern. The Farnsworths are co-directors of Magnolia Editions in Oakland, CA, a vanguard in the field of fine art multiples, unique works and public art fabrication. Explore the combination of traditional and cutting-edge techniques developed by the studio for artists such as Kiki Smith, Squeak Carnwath, Hung Liu, Chuck Close, Alexandre Arrechea, and Enrique Chagoya, including innovative approaches to copper plate photogravure, laser-engraved woodcuts, Jacquard tapestries, ceramics, and more. Don Farnsworth will also discuss his ongoing quest to reproduce the elusive texture of Renaissance-era papers in Magnolia's old-world handmade paper studio and the many exciting discoveries made along the way. Don & Era Farnsworth’s exhibit, I Forget I’m Human, will be open September 22 – November 18 at the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center, 1203 E. Lauridsen Blvd., Port Angeles, WA.
