At its general meeting on September 12th, the Sequim Bay Yacht Club will present Mike Payne to speak on the mission and recent accomplishments of the Port Townsend Aero Museum. The present museum facility opened 10 years ago and is a productive, nonprofit, publicly-owned, education-based operation. It specializes in the restoration of old aircraft, mainly of tube and fabric construction, and has a collection of 23 aircraft dating from 1926 to 1958. A large part of its work is the mentoring of aviation-minded teenagers from Jefferson, Clallam and Kitsap counties. These students learn aircraft restoration skills as well as pilot training. The presentation on the 12th will begin at 7:30 pm in the large assemble room at John Wayne Marina.
