Description
Join fellow accordion players, enthusiast and dancers for an afternoon of music and fun. Players of ALL levels are encouraged to bring their accordion and play 1-3 pieces. The intent of the social is to have a supportive and friendly atmosphere, where players can play and everyone can enjoy some great music. Our Featured Player for the second half of the afternoon will be: Mr. Richard Myking from Parkland, WA. Born in Seattle, Dick started playing the accordion at age 6. He earned a degree in education at Pacific Lutheran University and later a master of natural sciences degree. He taught science and health education to junior high school students. Dick likes the acoustic accordion as it “breathes” the air that gives it a voice. His favorite music styles are Scandinavian, German, Slovenian and other European Folk Music, especially waltzes and polkas. He has taught accordion for 13 years, often offering a free lessons to children at fairs to interest them in his favorite instrument. Dick plays music throughout our region, at socials, fairs, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, church and family events. He often plays with other friends and artists. Dick has four children who also have musical talents. His son Mark is a performer with talents in Zydeco and Cajun music as well as traditional accordion favorites.
