Join the Sequim Bay Yacht Club on Wednesday, September 8, at 6:30 p.m., for a moving tribute to the veterans of World War II, featuring club members David Richardson and John Johnson. The presentation will be held in the Hendrick’s Public Meeting Room at the John Wayne Marina, Sequim. David and John, both veterans, were fortunate to participate in the 75th End of World War II Commemorations in August and September, 2020. They traveled from Sequim to San Diego in a WWII T6 Texan Trainer and joined 13 other planes at the Naval Base San Diego prior to boarding the USS Essex for passage across the Pacific to Pearl Harbor, HI. They will share their story of the flight to San Diego, the COVID impacts on the mission, loading the aircraft aboard the Essex, the Pacific passage and the formal activities in Hawaii, and why the event was important. This once-in-a-lifetime trip will be presented with photos and video taken along the way as a tribute to those who served and those who sacrificed their lives in support of our freedom. Please note, in accordance with state and county mandates, masks will be required in the Hendrick’s Room.
