Event Coordinator

Summary of NeedThe Olympic Peninsula Healthy Community Coalition (OPHCC), a non-profit based in Clallam County, Washington, is recruiting for an energetic Event Coordinator to assist in marketing and producing our county-wide health education events to help fulfill our vision of empowering community members to achieve wellness and well-being with the ultimate goal of our mission to decrease chronic disease in our communities. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who is well organized, has a positive attitude, and enjoys communicating with the public, especially children. 

Position Details:

  • Part time (up to ~20 hours per month) position that includes weekends. Saturday events are most common. 7 Saturday events are already scheduled from June through September. More events are desired and will be scheduled upon hiring of Event Coordinator.

  • Travel to pre-determined event sites, including schools, farmers markets, worksites, health fairs and other public venues to set up, staff and take down tents, tables, education materials and food demonstrations to help promote, educate, and share healthy eating and active living messages with the public. 

  • Position requires working closely with the OPHCC Executive Director for scheduling, guidance and supply needs for each event. 

  • Supplies are provided.

  • Events will take place in Clallam County, from Sequim to the West End.

  • Competitive hourly pay ($18/hr to start); non-exempt, contractor, position

  • Mileage Reimbursement for travel to and from events.

Qualifications, Attributes, and Competencies:

  • Live in Clallam County and possess reliable transportation

  • Ideally transportation has enough room to hold all supplies that includes a Smoothie Bike or with ability to tow a small, lightweight enclosed trailer of supplies (hitch necessary) 

  • Ability to lift 40 pounds and stand on your feet for extended periods 

  • Previous health or education background a big plus

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Hold and maintain a valid WA state driver’s license 

  • Active Food Worker Card required (this may be obtained by taking a short, online course and test, reimbursed by OPHCC)
