Safe Parking Host

Summary

The Safe Parking Host works alongside volunteers at a Safe Parking program in Sequim greeting guests in the evening and/or checking in on guests and securing the site as guests leave for the day. This is part-time, one hour a day (5 to 6 p.m. five days to seven days a week). $22 an hour.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Work with management to establish schedule and days where available on-call to cover shifts incidentally
  • Ensure you have a working phone or means of immediate contact and reliable transportation in the event of snow or other extreme weather.
  • Ensure the safety, security and sanitation of Safe Parking grounds reporting needed repairs to Safe Parking Manager.
  • Oversee opening and closing processes: unlock portable toilet during guest hours and lock as guests leave.

Check, fill and clean wash station. Open and close gate. Ensure lot is clean after Safe Parking guests leave before signing off of shift.

  • Check guests in and out. Check guest placards to approved guest records.
  • Support guest self-security and assist with crisis management where needed
  • Assist guests with referrals to relevant services to address their needs.
  • Maintain guest records, incident logs, monthly reports, and other reports as required.
  • Advise non-approved guests about application processes, refer to relevant services when needed.
  • Work alongside Safe Parking Volunteers to create a welcoming environment for all.
  • Become familiar with rules and regulations for Safe Parking and Safe Parking guests.
  • Provide assistance and guidance regarding rules and regulations, responding to violations appropriately, respectfully, and in a timely manner and advise Safe Parking Manager of any violations.
  • Call relevant authorities to report an emergency and/or serious concerns and open Church when there is a relevant urgent need.
  • Prepare lot spaces for incoming guests.
  • Maintain utmost confidentiality of guests of the Safe Parking site.
  • Attend all meetings as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to provide non judgmental services to people experiencing homelessness.
  • Manage emergency situations in a calm and deliberate manner.
  • Must be able to provide oversight and encourage adherence to rules in a trauma-informed manner.
  • Be willing to learn and expand your perspective and knowledge.
  • An ability to maintain a strict adherence to client confidentiality is essential to the position.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Pass a criminal background check and sexual assault training. Criminal histories will be screened and eligibility determined on a case-by-case basis.
