Marilyn Hiestand and Julie Hembree explore the beauty, energy, and interconnectedness found in the Elements of Nature.
Drawing from nature, Hiestand focuses on the shoreline and the dynamic meeting of ocean and land. Her work captures the energy of waves moving toward shore, particularly in the morning light, while celebrating the birds, water creatures, animals, and natural objects that inhabit this ecosystem. Her goal is to capture the magic and vitality of this ever-changing environment.
Hembree explores the relationships between land, shore, and sea—places where they meet, overlap, and transform one another. She uses natural materials, color, and texture to express these connections and the ways nature’s elements interact.
Together, Hiestand and Hembree offer complementary perspectives on the shoreline, inviting viewers to notice the movement, life, relationships, and transformations that occur where these natural worlds come together.
